Breathtaking High Altitude Ride to KHARDUNG LA | Ride XP Himalayas Ep. 3
In Episode 3, we have our first major highlight of the trip, riding just 38 km from Leh to the mighty Khardung La, one of the highest roads in the world at an altitude of 5,481m or 17,982ft. Going to Khardung La was like entering a mystical gateway to the great mountains for me! The vlog covers the route from Leh to Khardung La down to North Pulu, about the half of the day's actual ride. The next episode will cover up to the end of the day, at Nubra Valley

CFMOTO 450MT vs Himalayan 450 First Impressions on a Flat Track & Specs Comparison
Переглядів 47 тис.Місяць тому
My question has been, how come the 450MT has been called the unicorn small ADV by some, while the Himalayan 450, while also regarded as a great bike, has not? I unexpectedly got to test the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the CFMOTO 450MT back to back on a flat track last weekend at an ADV event here in the Philippines, so I finally have some notes, but this is not an in-depth comparison, so ta...

    Piston mean speed in m/s is a measure allowing to roughly evaluate the stresses on the piston with the rings in the cylinder. In general the consensus is to stay largely under 20 m/s at max RPM and to stay around under 13-14 m/s at cruising speed if you want a lasting engine. It's verified every day on aviation and marine gas engines. The other rule of thumb is on gas engines the cruising speed is 75 to 80 % of the max RPM. For example if your bike has a top speed of 150 kmh, the good speed on highway is between 112 and 120 kmh with a piston speed around 12-13 m/s. After this preliminary I do think that the RE 450 has a very bothering technical feature. With a very long old fashion stroke of 81.5 mm but with a rather fast 8000 RPM for the max power of 40 hp, the piston speed is 21.3 m/s, a very annoying high value.That's more than a super sport Honda CBR600RR at 14250 RPM (20.19 m/s). More than a cross KTM 450. The Suzuki DR 650 SE has a 82 mm stroke with around 41 hp at 6400 RPM piston speed 17.5 m/s. The Zongchen NC 450 with a stroke of 64 mm is giving around 40 hp at 7100 RPM on the Fantic 500 with a piston speed of 15.14 m/s. Also that means, if the top speed is 150 kmh at 8000 RPM, that at 6000 RPM on the highway, around 115-120 kmh, the speed piston is an unhealthy 16.3 m/s. Like if you were almost top RPM all the time with a Suzuki DR 650 on the highway, and everybody knows that was not good at all for the DR engine. Morality the RE engine is absolutely not made for going a long time on the highway. The 450 MT has a stroke of 55.2 mm, so at 8500 RPM the piston speed is 15.64 m/s. At 6500 it's less than 12 m/s, a gage of longevity. With the very full curve of torque and power it's easy to adjust the sprockets ratio to get 120 kmh at 6500 RPM. It's also the RPM of the max torque and the better specific gas consumption. Morality with the good gear ration you can make hundreds of kilometers et 120 kmh. So I do not feel very confident about the durability of the RE engine for a ADV use with a mix of highway, road and offroad.

    I’ve always admired your videos. This review is no exception. Excellent coverage and authentic personality - no ‘fake’ American accent (and I’m American!). Despite my ability to purchase a big BMW, KTM or Ducati… I like the idea of thrashing a motorcycle that doesn’t share the cost of those bikes. I’ve never considered CF Moto or any Chinese bike, but the 450MT is changing my perspective. Enjoyed the video. Thanks.

    Greetings from Oregon in NW USA. Great Video..!! So I noticed near the end of video at around 4:55 the were some bikes parked, and there seemed to be a big BMW GS bike. Are those large (and obviously much more expensive) bikes commonly seen in Philippines? In America the big adventure bikes are the main thing, because we have thousands and thousands of square miles of back country and probably millions of miles of backroads... so bikes that can cover long distances at high speed to get to and from bumpy back roads that require high torque are in high demand.

    • @Ride_XP
      @Ride_XP 20 днів тому

      Yes they are! Generally a lot of people with money go straight to the big expensive endgame ADVs. It’s a way of showing off, to be honest. But for most riding here small and middleweights are much more appropriate. It’s just that at the moment speed limits are loosely enforced most places so you can have some room to enjoy liter bikes.

    • @Dharma-Track
      @Dharma-Track 20 днів тому

      @@Ride_XP Very cool, thanks for a great reply! .. up until watching your videos I had never seen footage of motorcycling in Philippines ...looks like u guys have a lot of real rough tough back roads. Have you been to USA and gone riding here? It is super vast country with all kinds of different terrain and topography, deserts, very tall mountains, wide open spaces etc.etc. I personally own 2 dual sport bikes: 1994 BMW R100GS (1000cc 60 hp)and 2012 Triumph 800XC (800cc 98 hp)... both very wonderful bikes... both are too big and too heavy for the roughest slow trails, but great for very long trips across country and travel on rough dirt roads and desert roads...both offer great slow speed torque, comfort, and fast effortless cruising speed... sometimes we might 500-1000 miles (800-1600km) to get the riding adventure areas so that fast cruise speed is essential. The big bikes can accommodate enough camp gear and food, gear to stay out in the wilderness for extended periods. Anyways I hope to watch more of your bike reviews and your adventure rides. Be Cool!

    • @Ride_XP
      @Ride_XP 23 дні тому

      This is a great question, let me quickly answer it: It's close, but definitely an upgrade. Much smoother, more comfortable seated and way better standing, more tractable off-road and not prone to stalling, better suspension, better front wheel, no vibes, better electronics and easy to switch ABS/TC immediately. Main tradeoff is heavier weight, big front end, and not as agile road handling.
